This week in Quartz room we have switched our focus from zoo animals to insects/bugs! The interest came from the song the itsy bitsy spider, the children love singing that song! We made our own giant spiders out of paper Mache and painted them black! Now that spring has come along we have jumped on the chance to go bug hunting! One day we took the children outside to dig for worms in the mud, it turned out to be an exploration of mud and deep puddles! We got very messy and wet but the children were having so much fun jumping and digging in the wet gooey mud! We also went bug hunting by looking at all the trees outside; we were trying to find any creepy crawlers living on the bark of the trees! Some of our friends saw spiders! Very exciting, next time we will have to bring our notepads and magnifying glasses!
As of May 2, Nina will be taking a medical leave for four months (maybe less)! We wish her the best, and hope that she can get happy and healthy in no time. Please welcome Christina into the classroom. She will be starting on April.29th!!
