This week in shale we started leaning more and more towards the play idea of “Water”. We are and will be exploring different ways water maneuvers, different colors we can make by mixing water and mixing things within the water, such as bubbles and goop.
We set up ramps with different types of balls, bells and things with wheels. Our children have used different objects such as shower puffs, scoops and sponges to transport the water from one place to another. We also have added smaller objects into the water for the children to pinch with their fingers encouraging hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Water play is an important part of young children’s development in ways such as gross motor, fine motor, hand-eye coordination and physical capability. Water play is a great way of learning through hands on experiences that help stimulate a child’s senses.
With all of our water experiences going on in shale room please ensure that your child does have a couple extra sets of clothes as we will be getting wet and having a lot of time exploring water.
What can you do with water at home that will help your child’s growth? Feel free to share your ideas or experiences with us in Shale Room, it’s always great to try new things!
Have a wonderful long weekend
