We have been as busy as ever in Sandstone! This week we have moved away from our exploration of liquid movement on an incline and started looking at how other objects move down inclines. In the sand table we put in ramps with small cups, the thought was to see if a more solid substance moves the same as water down an incline. But the children quickly showed me that they were more interested in exploring how objects move. They brought in golf balls, cars, animals, and play people. So the next day we set up tunnels with golf balls and tested out a question, if we drop the ball higher will it go faster? In our water table we made watersides and shot animals down with big cups of water. If we put the animals down without water they moved more slowly.
This week we have also gone for short walks in the comunity and to Kenilworth comunity league park where we spent lots of time on the “carousel” and playing with “diggers”.
Just a reminder to all families to make sure your child has a hat and outside shoes every day. Our yard is often a little muddy due to all the rain and in the mornings are filled with bright August sun. We have missed Erin this we as she has been on vacation but have enjoyed having Sue and Emily spending time with us while she is away. Have a great weekend!
