This week in sandstone has been filled with sensory exploration. We brought back in a couple favourite activities of the children’s. In water we had our stand and funnels. For sand we made it two levels and added ramps for the children to pour the sand down. These activities engage the children immediately and lots of time was spent dumping and pouring and watching the sand or water flow.
To extend on these we have been bringing water with different types of ramp and funnels outside into the play yard. On Thursday we had ooblick in our extra sensory bin. The children enjoyed mixing it up and watching it melt away in their hands. Friday we set out red, blue , and yellow coloured water with eye droppers. This started lots of imaginative play, as the children began to explore with the colours. They were talking about how they needed to make the French fries first and then they will add the red. This week were lucky that rain held off in the mornings and we were able to go to the park twice and on a walk with Quartz room. The children have been taking more calculated risks at the park as their confidence has grown. We have a room full of highly skilled climbers!
Have a hot and sunny weekend and we will see you all on Monday!
