Quartz Room Grocery Store is open for business! We have changed our dramatic play area into our very own grocery store! We have brought in boxes, cans, milk jugs, shopping bags and cash registers! We have been filling up our baskets with our groceries, paying for them at the till and then taking them home to unpack them!
Bekah brought in a spaghetti squash to explore; on Wednesday we felt the outside of the squash and took guesses as to what it could be – the popular answer was an apple. On Thursday Mason, Estella, Inara, Neve and Elliot went to the kitchen to cut open the squash to see what was inside! We discovered, that even though we thought what we had was an apple, it really was a squash! Just ask Mason.
Having opened our grocery store this week, we have started to notice the big idea of building and construction. From stacking the cans of vegetables and soup on their own and then adding blocks to the mix has been a great start!
Outside Kerry and Michelle, along with Angus, Isla and James helped build a balance beam, we walked sideways on it as wel as one foot in front of the other.
Next Tuesday all of Quartz will be walking to Clara Tyner to discover different types of bridges! We will be bringing the classroom iPad along to take pictures and then post them in our classroom to continue exploring.
From our Quartz room family to all of yours, we hope that you have a wonderful long weekend!
