Although it has been a short week, it has been a very active week in Quartz!
Kerry’s group and a small group from Jasper have started to fill in their birds nest, making it more inviting for the birds to come and enjoy. Michelle’s group and a small group from Sandstone continued their collaborative grouping and went for another walk around the community.
There have been many different provocations and experiences set up for the children to help us discover the next branch off of our big idea.
We have turned one of our tables into a ramp to paint with rolling balls.
A piece of rain gutter was brought in to the block area as a ramp for cars, balls, trucks, duplos and whatever else we could find that might roll or not roll down. An expansion using the rain gutter, from the tap to the water table was made twice, using the motion of the water to mix food colouring in as well.
We even watched worms wiggle around in our hands and dirt! What an interesting experience for the children in Quartz room.
Next week we will continue to explore our new interest in movement by bringing in the projector to watch our shadows move on the wall and adding more levels to our water table for waterfalls/ramps -bring in the pegboard to make marble runs.
Kerry is on a week vacation next week, which means Emily will be in Quartz room for the week.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, rain or shine! ??
