Things were back to normal this week, as all of our jasper friends were back from holidays and spring break and ready to go! This week was also Larissa’s last full week in our program. Her final day will be next Tuesday, and we will celebrate her with cupcakes and a going away party!
The weather was pretty gloomy for most of the week but we tried to make the most of it; spending some time outside playing games and enjoying Thursday afternoon’s snack outside. On Wednesday we went to Ottewell Community League park and the ‘big hills’ to fly Sarah’s kite and Frisbee! The kids had lots of fun trying this challenging experience. Sarah had never flown a kite before, but we were lucky we had Neha with us because she is a pro, except when she got it caught in a tree (which she retrieved)!
Larissa had lots of fun things planned for us during her final week. We got to make healthy fruit popsicles with fresh fruit and real fruit juice. We all got to wash and cut our own fruit to add to our popsicles and then pour in our choice of fruit juice. They were DELICIOUS! She also helped us create our perfect box castle, complete with a window, door and flags. We all had a great time imagining we were in a medieval realm, working together to keep the castle safe. We also got to use it for a few hide and seek games inside our room!
“What jobs incorporate the action of transporting”. That’s our big question. We have began exploring this question with a few transportation provocations throughout the week. Line making with mini markers and toy cars, paper airplane making and a train track world. A lot of our friends are really interested in animals that help transport things like people, water and food; so watch next week for experiences outside that incorporate animals and imaginative play. 🙂
We have begun to prep for SUMMER!! Wahoooo! Neha and Sarah were able to get a good deep clean in on Thursday while Sue and Larissa enoyed a few soccer games with the boys outside. This included going through all of our sunscreen and bug sprays. A lot of sunscreen and bug spray was expired or empty. Please check the list on our info board in the room to see what you will need to bring. We also had a few Sandstone visitors this week which was very exciting for our jasper friends. They were elated to share the motions of our day, as well as were all the toys were and a few of our jasper guidelines! We are also going to be wishing Theo and Bennett safe travels on their upcoming vacations!
PS: Neha and Sarah hope to see you tomorrow night at the Silent Auction. Bring your checkbooks, we cant wait to start the bidding wars!
