New science tells us that children’s first years are when they develop the foundation for all future learning. Every time we connect with them, it’s not just their eyes that light up, it’s their brains too. In these moments, half a million neurons fire at once, taking in all the things we say and do. We can’t see it happening, but it’s all there, all at work. We must foster this crucial developmental stage so that children can grow into their roles of citizens of the world. Children learn more quickly during their early years than at any other time in life. They need love and nurturing to develop a sense of trust and security that turns into confidence as they grow. These are the ideals that we focus on in Jasper room, nurturing each individual to their highest potential at their own pace. This past year has taught us as educators to foster this learning potential in a variety of ways from pushing the boundaries and taking risks we have allowed our Jasper friends to expand their strategic thinking in many ways whether it be in terms of scaffolding or simply observing them create their own path through which to enhance their learning.
As the year winds down, we would like to thank- you for all your support in not only helping us in the room but also throughout our centre that forms our little Primrose community. It has been a wonderful year getting to know all of our friends and families.
Happy Holidays everyone!!
