Quartz Holiday Blog
At this time of year, the educators in Quartz have been reflecting on the ‘childcare’ aspect of our profession. It’s no secret that we love children, but it’s the little things about care giving that are the most meaningful and rewarding.
The children in our room enter at 19 months and are young toddlers. They require lots of cuddles, lots of soft words of encouragement, and lots of cleaning (ha, ha). Of course, we are more than happy to provide all of these deeds.
By the time the children leave our room, they are talking and using our names. They react with emotional words and body gestures when engaging in some of our experiences. They have learned how to put on their coats ‘the magic way’. They have developed a sense of humour and can be teased and entertained. Some are even potty trained.
We don’t take for granted the responsibility we have for care giving and role modelling which balances out the educational goals we also have for the children. This time period in a child’s life is so dynamic, magical and precious. We would like to thank all of the parents who trust us day-in and day-out with their children. We also hope that everyone has the kind of holiday that creates memories that will be cherished forever.
