What a wet week we’ve had! Our Jasper Room friends have been enjoying the mucky, damp weather playing outside in mud and puddles in their rain gear! They have helped to transform our playspace, arranging tires and stumps into an obstacle course which allows our friends to practice their gross motor skills! We have also discovered spiders, which has sparked discussions about different species, and we have answered many questions through research using books!
This week in Jasper, we were very sad to see our friend, Katrina, leave Primrose, she was a special part of our classroom, and she will be missed by all her friends and teachers! Her departure started conversations about moving up to kindergarten and grade one next week! We had questions about what kindergarten was like and the things we’ll learn, such as reading and writing letters and numbers. They were excited and very proud to read a page from the book, “Extra Yarn” by Mac Barnett!
We have continued picking fun songs from our song jar during our circle time, and on Tuesday we shared our songs with our Sandstone friends during our playspace exploration time! And indoors, some of our friends have built fantastic train tracks, while others have been folding “cootie catchers” and paper airplanes!
This week, we have also begun to transition some friends into our classroom! Renata, Cohen, Finn, and Tanner have done an amazing job adjusting to our routines and we can tell that they are very excited to join us in Jasper Room!
Also, this week, Clara celebrated her fourth birthday! Happy birthday, Clara!
Throughout the week, Sue and Laura have been helping out in Jasper Room, while Neha is away in Vancouver. And as you know Sarah is beginning her transition into in Shale and we will miss her very much! Luckily, Neha will still be here, joined by Emily!
Have a fantastic weekend, and we will see you Monday!
