It’s been a wonderful week of the new beginning. The kids, along with Julia and Sarah have had a fantastic time exploring our new space, materials and community. We watched as new, incredible bonds formed among our newest friends through play and conversation!
For our first week, we spent most of the time learning and exploring our new space. Water table and lego were the biggest hits this week when it came to play. The kids were excited to mix up our loose parts and explore them in the water, while the building with lego people was constantly evolving to newer and more dynamic characters. We practiced walking our school routes throughout the week, being sure to scope out all the neighborhood parks too! Another surprising interest that flourished this week was tea! During our ‘team time’ meeting, the kids decided it was important that they have tea during these meetings. This started a week long tea test. We walked to our neighborhood grocery store and strategically picked out 12 teas that were in our budget. Some of the kids brought in their own mug and some decided to borrow the Churches mugs. We then tried two teas each day and took votes on our favorite. The kids often ask for tea during snack times and throughout the day! We will continue this scientific taste testing into the coming weeks – what kind of teas do you have at home they could try?
Finally, some notes for you to remember going into the first week of school. If there is any change to your child’s schedule please be sure to call or email Sarah to let her know. For Clara Tyner and St. Brendan children that are walking and being picked up, our educators will be in bright green t-shirts so we are easy to find.
Can’t wait to continue this new exciting adventure – see you next week!
