This week in Sandstone we explored ” what can we use for rolling” This brought many fun and exciting experiences for us to explore. We made a big tube structure which used both our water table and sand table. Tubes were coming from everywhere!! We were able to “roll” cars, balls, marbles and much more. Some children even found the initiative to find different materials in the classroom. One child found milk container lids! We used cars to paint, and we got to see what happened as the cars “rolled” back and fourth. There were tracks! We also used marbles, ramps and paint to watch the marks the marbles made on the paper as they “rolled” down. This also allowed us to explore speed which comes from a math concept. Which one went faster? We are going to start exploring what we can do with our bodies, and how can we use our bodies to “roll” Emergent curriculum allows us to explore different things at once. While we continued to explore rolling we also started exploring self. This brought an opportunity to look at reflections in mirrors and necklaces. We were able to see our faces and the similarities between other children and ourselves.
We would just like to thank all who joined us for our breakfast at our “special person party” We all enjoyed having tea and muffins together.
Happy Special Person Day!!!!
