Sensory exploration is one of the most basic concepts children understand at such a young age. During this week Shale room continued to explore different textures, play dough and clay and how they were different. Most of the children were interested in poking and prying these materials. Perhaps they are trying to figure out how to mold these materials and it starts with poking. They also explored colored ice cubes with surprises in them. They liked identifying the temperature and feeling the ice cubes. BRRR! COLD! This may help them when they go outside to explore the cold. Lastly, Shale room has started to really care and nurture each other and notice when one is feeling upset or sad. Often they will bring each other a comfort toy or go give a friend a hug and this is why they are transforming the house corner into a hospital. They like to help the baby dolls and give them band aids and wraps. Kaitlyn, the student also has been exploring the concept of in and out with Shale room. Look at her documentation outside the classroom. Have a wonderful weekend!
