What an amazing week in Shale with the weather being record breaking temperatures since the 1800’s we enjoyed much needed time outside! Going on walks around the buildings and using our feet not the strollers, painting outside on the snow and even dancing of course because it’s our favourite thing to do! With the temperatures being so warm it is now that funny time of year where we are between snow suits / winter boots to rain suits / rubber boots, it is still chilly but the wetness is very real in our play space and it is a much needed time for water resistant clothing.
We are still exploring our big idea of collecting and have been extending the materials we have used to collect with into an art experience. For example, the shredded paper in our sandbox the children were collecting it in small bags and containers, the next day we used the paper and glued it to a big piece of paper and made a beautiful piece of art work. Yesterday we collected with tinfoil balls and today we are painting with the tinfoil balls on a piece of tinfoil, also another beautiful piece of art work to art to our wall of art! We will continue to extend and revamp the materials used to collect and turn them into art work as next week unfolds! We have enjoyed a great week getting to know our student Cheyanne from Grant MacEwan. She is now going back to school but will be back in March to spend a whole 4 weeks with us! “Forget dancing like no one is watching.
