Hello August!
What a wonderful week we have had in Quartz Room! Tuesday, Sue and Marisa went with the children for a community walk, while Kerry, Michelle and Bekah stayed back to rearrange our classroom! Upon coming back, the children each found an area that interested them and played either independently or with a small group of children! Our block centre has gotten bigger, as has our dramatic play area- bringing back the kitchen to expand our discovery of cooking. It was wonderful to see all children engaged in one aspect or another within Quartz room. Change is exciting!
One of the areas that we have been very, very interested in was our scissor and loose materials provocation, each day this week it was set up in a different location in the classroom. These materials were very well respected and used! And our cutting skills have progressed so much from Tuesday.
Fine motor challenges have been our focus with threading beads into funnels and watching them come out, to completing more complicated puzzles and using the Little People in our block centre.
We are looking forward to celebrating everyone’s heritage by enjoying a wonderful meal prepared by the staff at GEF. We will be eating things like perogies, butter chicken, spring rolls, bannock and Pancit.
Next week we will be reading stories with seniors and adding variations to our cutting provocations. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Michelle, Kerry, Bekah and Emily.
