We have decided to provoke the big idea and interest of color as we started noticing the colors in nature. Orange, Yellow, Red and Brown have surrounded us. The first experience we did in the classroom with the children is make shakers with red, yellow, and blue which are all the primary colors. We will continue to investigate primary colors by reading some books like ‘Mix it Up’ a very interactive book which the children love to be involved with! We also had hands hanging from the roof filled with different colors. Some children were very curious, and some didn’t like them at all. They were very squishy! We hung the beach balls from the ceiling and the children seemed to really like to hit them. There were different opportunities to interact with color on the windows, and find color frogs in the sand table! This supports the idea of object permanence – the ability to know something is hiding! Some other experiences we are looking forward to is magnet balls and colored straws, also looking at different color pom-poms. Have a wonderful weekend!
