This week in shale we continued to explore how our bodies move and how our bodies work and how our bodies can explore in our natural setting. We have branched into a new interest with undefined and defined space with our bodies. The last few weeks we have explored painting in an undefined space on the floor and then we moved on to explore painting in a defined space on the table inside a picture frame. It was an interesting process for the shale room children as they explored painting in boundaries and exploring new heights and levels. We moved on to explore shredded paper in a defined space, the children enjoyed throwing the paper and crunching it with their hands. To further explore shredded paper next week we will explore the shredded paper in an undefined space that the children can experience with their whole bodies! This week we explored a new texture! We explored gak, the children really seemed to enjoy experiencing the slimy, stretchy and interesting new material in the water table. We explored playing at the park and running in the play space. Monday we explored playing in our pool outdoors splashing around in the water. Shale invited two older children from different rooms to come and have snack with us in the afternoon, the older children have shown a great interest in wanting to explore with shale and how we play in shale! Thank you for the visit, the children enjoyed playing and having snack with you! Thursday we enjoyed watching the rain hitting the ground from the windows and the lightning, thunder, and hail coming down! What an exciting weather experience to observe together and then the power went out so we explored playing in the natural light! Shale can’t wait to continue on with our big idea movement and we are excited to see where our interests take us next!
