This week in Shale was pretty eventful with a lot of changes in the room! We are saying goodbye to FOUR of our friends as they move up to the Quartz Room! Declan, Elliot, Neve, and Zoe, although you are a few steps away, we will miss learning with you very much! Also, we are saying good luck to Marisa as she embraces her new role as the Family Support Coordinator! We wish her all the best with her new venture! She will slowly be transitioning out of Shale room in the next couple of months.
How fortunate we were to have such beautiful weather this week, and Shale Room took full advantage with daily walks and extra outside time in our playspace. We took walks around the neighbourhood and visited the park! Our favourite activity, besides swinging and sliding was popping bubbles!
Our interest this week was popping bubbles, and we had bubbles in our water table, along with magnetic blocks, we brought bubbles outside, we put bubble wrap over coloured LED push lights, and taped bubble wrap to our sandbox lid so we could stomp on bubbles!
Continuing with our In and Out concept, we also created art with shaving and food colouring to make cool designs on paper, painted with q-tips, and a salty art piece using glue and coloured salt. We also made “Elephant Toothpaste”, which was successful, but not as dramatic as we would like, we’ll try it again another day!
Next week, we’re exploring more applications of our concept In and Out including incorporating dry ice into our program! How exciting!
Enjoy your weekend and see you on Monday!
