Winter is here in full force! What do you do with a room full preschoolers who have unlimited amounts of energy and restricted to being indoors? Why races down the hallway of course! With our racing pony song or pom pom patch hiding game we have spent some of that boxed up energy indoors. We look forward to next week when we can get outside to explore some of the freshly fallen snow and make tacks as we play some of our favorite games.
I think one thing we can all agree on is there is nothing better to do on a cold day then curl up with a good book. That is just what we have done in Sandstone this week. We have spent many hours reading some of our favorite stories, including some new ones like “The Three Wolves and the Big Bad Pig”. The first time we read this we were a bit confused because in all of our other stories the wolf is “the bad guy” but in this story he is just lonely and looking for some friends.
Have you noticed our new felt board? We have begun to re-tell stories and songs on the board to our friends in the classroom. Walking by you can hear the children recite the most exiting parts or the silliest parts such as “Huffing and Puffing” or the ever popular “FE FI FO FUM”. If you were to join us for lunch on Thursday you might wonder why the children were saying “no legs” or “the arms are gone”, well they were eating the gingerbread men that we baked and decorated. The gingerbread men pranced across the table and through the rice many times as they ran away from the pretend fox. Eventually landing in our mouths and sliding into our tummies, yum yum!!
Have a great weekend and stay warm, see you on Monday!
