Happy Mothers’ Day ❤
This week in Quartz Room, we have been discussing our ideas about Mother’s Day. We’ve decided to bake chocolate chip cookies with love. The children have explored the ingredients we need for baking. They stirred the batter, watched Kaitlin put the baking soda in the bowl. Of course, we tasted the ingredients, and chocolate chips were our favorite! We carefully observed the mixture as well as the mixing part! We explored the texture of the ingredients as we pinched some salt and flour. The children were “making decisions about food consumption, preparation, and clean up routines” (PPP, p. 96). We took the batter, rolled them in our hands and put them on the baking tray. Then we listened to the sound of the oven toaster while our cookies were in there! We really liked the chocolate chips, so we had a little taste again. We truly enjoyed baking! Check out our recipe.

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups CHIPITS chocolate chips semi sweet
Directions: Heat oven (375 F). Beat butter, brown sugar, sugar in a large bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until creamy. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt altogether. Blend into a creamed mixture. Stir in CHIPITS semi sweet chocolate chips. Drop from small spoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 – 12 minutes. Recipe (Makes about 4 dozen cookies)
Hope you get chance to bake with your child over the weekend. We would love to hear about it.
