What a wonderful week we have had in Sandstone! We have been taking advantage of the fantastic weather outside by participating in many different activities . On Tuesday a small group joined with Quartz for a walk in the community. On our walk we observed the different landscapes of the houses and had a discussion on which ones had flower gardens, rock gardens, lawn ornaments, and front decks. We could see that many people in the Ottewell community spent their summer working in the yards. We have continued to explore our interest in building, this time outdoors. We took our big blocks and built a boat, bus, and truck all in one. We used buckets for seats and multiple steering wheels so everyone could be a driver. Our destinations were many in our multi unit transportation device but one thing we could all agree on was stopping for ice cream! We were using the wagons to transport the logs around the yard. When asked about what they were going to do Max exclaimed “we are building!” They took the logs and piled them altogether to create a trap. “A trap?” we asked, “who for?” “Jessica” they shouted and a chase was started and continued around the yard.
One conversation we had a at lunch this week was about juice and what different kinds of juice they had at home. So on Wednesday some of the children took a trip to TGP to get some ingredients to make fresh juice. We got celary and carrots at the store and Michelle brought us some apples from her back yard! We blended them altogether and had a small snack before our lunch, it was both healthy and delicious.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Enjoy the last couple of days summer!
See you Monday.
