The end of June! Half way through the year! Can you believe it?
Today we said goodbye to Keegan, Declan and Aideen as they are off on wonderful adventures this summer and as they will be moving to Sandstone upon their return in September. We also say goodbye to Norah, who will be with mum when her new baby brother or sister arrives. It is always hard to say goodbye to those leaving the classroom, but with the wonderful community Primrose has, we know that everyone is always more than welcome to visit.
Holly and Libby from Shale will be joining Quartz during the summer.
Even though there have been lots of changes and transitions within the classroom, the children have still been exploring our big idea of movement.
A small group helped make water heads expand from something so tiny, to huge! We used the water beads outside in the water table, when they fell on the ground they bounced very high and when we tried to pick them up, it was a bit of a challenge because they were so slippery.
On walks to the spray park, we watched as the wind blew the leaves in the trees, birds flapped their wings in the sky, cars stoping, starting and moving; as well as the spraying of the water at the spray park its self!
Quartz is hoping to make going to the splash park a weekly trip! (Of course with notice of when we will be going!)
Another type of movement that we can only thank the weather for, is all the rain in the past few afternoons, we have been watching the ripples in the puddles and the way the rain drops slide down the windows. The lightening has been a great fascination as has the thunder! We are hoping that if it rains again we can make music! Look out Monday morning by the classroom door to see if we were able to!
A noticed to parents that we have been noticing a lot of sharp finger nails when we are helping with hand washing, if your child’s nails could be checked please it would be appreciated. This helps us to make sure that they aren’t going to scratch anyone/themselves by accident. (Quartz room does have a pair of infant nail clippers if needed).
Enjoy the beautiful long weekend and Canada day,
Michelle, Bekah and Emily!
