Goodbye October and Hello to November! On Monday, Jasper was taken over by superheroes, animals, a dinosaur, a minion and a pirate! Halloween was an exciting, fun filled day. The children started the day with a costume parade with all the seniors at the 3 buildings. Jasper lead the parade that was filled with cheers and laughs from everyone who saw the children. Our friends said a big thank you for all the special treats we received from the seniors. Back in the room the children worked together and carved a pumpkin with Emily. The children used ice cream scoops and spoons to scrape clean all the seeds and slime out. Gross! Our friends decided to gave the pumpkin a big smile with two teeth, for the eyes we did a moon and a star. The pumpkin looked fantastic and spooky when we put a light inside. To finish our Halloween fun, we played spooky music and had a big dance party in the dark! We shook our bones to the music.
Later on this week, with the help of a small group, they helped Emily make five different colours and types of play dough. All the children had a special job in the making of the play dough. Each child took turns pouring the flour, water, oil and glitter into the bowl. Oh yes, glitter play dough! We are still finding glitter around the room. Some of the colours and glitter made the play dough look like space or a galaxy. We just love all things space related. When the children went to play with the play dough they quickly realized that three of the batches changed from the normal play dough feeling to a gooey, thick putty material. We loved trying to pull it apart but it would never rip.
Friday was just as exciting as Monday. Laura was in the room as Neha was away visiting her family. Laura brought in a fun memory card game. Each child took turns testing their memory as they tried to seek out the pairs of cards. The game was a big hit, all the children hope Laura will bring it back again for them to play. Just before the children went to music a firetruck pulled up the the fence. All the children from all the rooms rushed outside to see the truck up close. The firemen even stopped to talk to the children! How cool! The children were so excited that the firemen even put on lights and siren as they drove off! All the children squeezed with excitement and laughter. Music with Dawn started on a exciting note from the fire truck. All the children sang and danced along. Everyone is Jasper is always excited to have music. A fun start to the week and a great ending to the week. Cannot wait to see what will happen next week.
This weekend is “fall back” daylight savings. On Saturday night don’t forget to turn your clock back an hour! Enjoy the extra hour of sleep and have a great weekend!
