This week in Shale Room has been a very busy week! We have continued our focus on building but decided to look at construction and how buildings are made. We have all become constructors in the room as we use all of the different materials to build towers and castles and bridges! It is exciting to use our building skills. Because of our age, we have also been interested in simply learning. We had many different sensory experiences this week to help us feel confident in exploring our environment. Paulette made Gak for us to run our fingers through. We loved being able to explore the Gak! We also spent some time outside, in between all of the rain!
Gak Recipe
1 cup of white school glue
1 cup of warm water
2 teaspoons of Borax powdered soap
2/3 cup of hot water
food coloring of your choice
Put the food coloring in the cup of WARM water. Mix the glue and colored warm water in a bowl. In another small bowl or measuring cup, mix the hot water and Borax until Borax is dissolved. Add the Borax mixture to the glue mixture. Stir for a little while, then knead. It will look really funny and oh so wrong at first, but it will soon combine correctly and you can’t mistake the finished product.
