This week in Shale Room, we have been very excited to spend our mornings outside in the sunshine!  We have been practicing our walking, climbing, and building our gross motor muscles.  Thank you to all who have brought in sunscreen and sunhats.  We ask that you continue bringing in sunscreen as soon as possible as the weather continues to warm up.  This week, in exploring our new lunchtime routine, we have also been gathering together for circle time every day.  To begin circle time, we sing “Slippery Fish”.  This has become a favorite as we Gulp, Gulp, Gulp our fish!  By singing the same song every day, children begin to expand their vocabulary by recognizing sounds and eventually, the words in the song.  Children are also beginning to understand that when “Slippery Fish” is being sung, it is time to come on over to the reading corner for circle time!  It has been a week full of collaboration and learning and we are excited to continue our new routine next week!
