This week in Quartz room we have continued our big idea of construction. The children were able to dress up like a construction worker, we had a vest, safety glasses and hard hats for the children to wear. There was a miniature world created for the children to interact with, this miniature world was designed to look like a construction site. This gave the children lots of opportunity to be in control of what would happen in their construction site. We have also begun to look at different buildings and how they are built, we looked at their “blue prints,” we even found a copy of the daycare centres blue prints!! We have also started to look at other things that we can construct that do not belong in a construction site, for example; we read the book “Stone Soup” and then we “constructed” the soup using different natural materials that we found out in our play space! The children also took turns to construct “Gak!” They followed the instructions to get a play material that they can continually interact with for the rest of the week!
