We have started to round up our ‘Art Through Life’ idea this week in Jasper Room. We painted with condensed milk and the children liked painting with the bright colours. We also did a Jasper room painting, but we only used natural supplies (pinecones, leaves, sticks, grass, etc) as paintbrushes. On Tuesday, teacher Sarah made a Tinker Trunk just for Jasper room! It was put out on the table and the children were simply asked what they could make out of the materials in front of them. Finn started wrapping pipe cleaners around wooden sticks, and some of the girls saw that as an opportunity to make wands! They wrapped pipe cleaners and then glued a single jewel to the top. Lately, we have found that some of our friends have been showing interest in princesses, jewels, and cars. As a Jasper room staff, we thought it could be interesting to see whether or not a medieval provocation would spark something in the children. We have drawn out a castle at the light table and will add jewels, people, and maybe a moat to see where it will take us! Who knows, maybe Jasper room will be taking a trip back in time to when Kings and Queens ruled the land, and Knights encountered dragons!
