This week has been full of fun and excitement. We started our week off by creating a shredded paper bin. The children really enjoyed digging in the paper for different animals and objects as well as carrying the paper around. To expand on this we took a small group to the gym and dumped a bag of shredded paper into the large wood box for the children to climb in and play, lots of fun was had! To finish off the shredded paper we added water on Friday to create a gooey sensory experience.
This week in sandstone we have also been busy baking. On Tuesday we made our own playdough. The children were given the ingredients and encouraged to mix until they felt they had achieved a good texture for playdough. On Wednesday we had the opportunity to go do a muffin baking experience. The children assisted the teacher in measuring the ingredients, pouring it in, and mixing it up. That day at lunch we ate up our delicious blueberry muffins we made. Thursday we made Flubber (Gak). A small group went with a teacher to help make this, again the children assisted in measuring, pouring, and mixing. We had lots of fun with the flubber, it is very slimy and stretchy. While they were playing with the flubber a few children started to cover their entire hand with the flubber and exclaim they were superheroes!! We finished our week off with a day inside as it was to cold to go out. We continued to play in the flubber and had a dance party in the gym. What an adventurous week!
