This week in shale we have had a very exciting and busy week with lots of new exciting changes. This week we welcomed three new friends to our room! WELCOME PAULETTE AND YOUNG! We are so excited to see all of the qualities and personalities that they will bring to our shale family. We also welcomed Kaitlyn, our Grant MacEwan student on Monday who will be spending some time in our room. Kaitlyn will join us again when she comes back in November to finish her practicum; we look forward to seeing all of her wonderful experiences and growth over her period of time spent at primrose.
This week you will notice that our room has changed around and we are busy exploring our new environemtn and finding our ways around to our new favorite places. Shale has also started to explore the concept of colour, where we see colour, and how colour can change. On Monday some of our friends explored painting on a big piece of paper where other friends went out and explored a nature walk around the block. We were busy molding and sculpting playdough at the table and some children even rolled the playdough out. The children have seemed to really enjoy playing in the water this week; the colour has continuously changed which has seemed to make it more exciting! We have been busy splashing with the bubbles and exploring dumping and pouring with cups and spoons. LOOK AT OUR GRASP AND ROLLING SKILLS AND CONTINUING TO STRENGTHEN OUR FINE MOTOR SKILLS!
We are also going to explore in & out with Kaitlyn; I wonder how the children will respond to what sounds to be a marvelous provocation. This week shale room experienced a FIRE DRILL! We did such a great job as we exited the building and enjoyed singing songs until it was okay to return to the building! Our friends were so calm and great listeners. Stay tuned as we continue to explore each colour and how we can explore different colors inside, outside and all around us! A kind reminder, with every one being sick on and off, we ask if you could please take your child’s blanket home for a wash every Friday it would be greatly appreciated! Have a fabulous long weekend; we will see everyone on Tuesday!
