Another wonderful week in Shale and it flew by, you know what they say “time flies when your having fun!”
Our shale friends are really into music, singing, dancing and playing with instruments. We have listened to a lot of movement songs and explored many different ways of moving and dancing to the rhythm of the music. We had music with Dawn this Friday morning, the children were very engaged in listening and interacting with Dawn, we also wrote down a song that includes balls, colors and turn taking that we are going to implement into our morning gathering we have with the children.
Our morning gatherings take place durning lunch set up and transition to help the children feel stress free and free flowing. We start of by singing “Come and meet me in he book corner” that attracts all the children to the book corner it really is quite amazing how the children all flow directly to the carpet and sit down, waiting patiently for one of us to continue singing with gestures and movements. We will sing a couple songs that typically include “Rollie Pollie”, “Open, shut them” then we go into the “Row, row, row your boat” book and “Up, up, down”. After that we continue on with felt board stories and songs, some include “Party bears”, “I’m a little teapot”, “Slippery fish”, “Old McDonald had a farm”. We will then end it off with a couple more songs and stories such as “Animal boogie”, Journey home from grandpas” and “Let me see your funky chicken”. This is when the children will start going one by one to wash their hands for lunch.
What are some of your child’s favourite songs that you sing at home together? Also, if you would like to know some of the lyrics to our favourite songs we would be more then happy to share them with you!
Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the warmer temperatures and the last weekend of January! 🙂
