This week in Shale we were exploring the concept of “what can we build with?” We have introduced new materials that the children are not familiar with and placed them in different areas of the room. With these new materials, the children are encouraged to create and build with the material and make a design unique to each individual child. Introducing new materials makes new possibilities or it could also limit their possibilities. When you do bring in new materials, you need to consider the way the are placed, laid out, the lighting and shadows it casts; it’s all a factor on whether the children will be attracted to the experience in a positive way! One of our journeys in Shale is sadly but also very excitingly coming to an end.

Today we will be saying “see you soon” and “enjoy your beautiful future with a new bundle of joy” to Michelle as she is leaving for maternity leave. Michelle has been apart of our Primrose family for five years and has been an integral part of our daily lives. Her kindness and calm ora was one of the things the children, families and educators found most endearing about her. She will be so missed here at Primrose.
