It was a very exciting week in Sandstone, as three of our friends turned three! A very happy birthday to Petra, Estella, and Isla! Not only have we been celebrating birthdays, but we have also been celebrating the signs of spring! On our neighbourhood walk, we noticed the buds growing on trees and the rabbits’ coats changing colours from white to grey! We are all breathing a sigh of relief and are anxiously waiting for the sun to dry up the mud in our playspace. Until then, we will be engaging in outdoor play in the back of the building.
This week, we worked on strengthening our fine motor skills, specifically our palmer and pincer grasp! Many of our friends busied themselves with puzzles and worked very hard to put the pieces together. After placing playdough on a table, the children seemed to be very excited to play with it because they left the toys and activities they were engaged with to join us! We made “cookies” and practiced rolling it out with the rolling pin. We also explored painting with brushes and sponges! It is essential for young children to develop these skills as it helps with early writing abilities!
Overall, it has been an exciting week with many changes in the room, but we look forward to an exciting new season full of possibilities!
