Once apon a time in Sandstone the possibilities were endless! Over the past little while a favourite story for the children has been “Goldielocks and Three Bears” We have read many different versions of the story, reenacted the story with puppets, listened to the story on the stereo before nap, and taken turns in the house corner pretending to eat porridge. We introduced some new stories from the fairy tails this past week and learned many different rhymes. The children have taken these stories and made them their own in their play. When we made playdough this week we created some Gingerbread men, ours didn’t get up and run away this time. We did find that our gingerbread men could be dressed up with more playdough, we made hats, buttons and shoes for our little men. The story’s have brought up the concept of patterns and sequence, the children have done some exploring of this in their play with the babies, they change the dirty diapers, change their clothes, wrap them up in a blanket, put them to bed, give them a bottle, then sing them to sleep. There are many different steps that they have put together in the order of caring for and putting the babies to bed. In our reading of the stories in the class room the children have been talking about what they read at home, what are some favorites that you have? We love it when the children bring books from home to share with us! Just a reminder that we are closed on Friday the 11th for Remembrance Day, have a save long weekend and we will see you on Monday
