We don’t need to tell you that two and a half year olds have a ton of energy, as Sandstone parents I’m sure you already know that! This week we have been exploring different ways to expand those bursts of energy that we get through the day. In the mornings we have revisited some of our favourite movement songs, “elephants have wrinkles” is one of them and it gets our whole body up and moving. We love it when the song says we have wrinkles on our eye balls, that’s so silly!
Outside we have been participating in games of tag, with calls of “your it” and “come and get me” coming from the children. This also helps us to develop our coordination in running. That task in itself is not an easy one with the slippery mud out side, some of us have found out how soft it is to land in, and of course so much fun! There are many requests for dance parties from first thing in the morning till late in the afternoon. We have tried out many different kinds of music to dance to and started to discover that the tempos of the song set the pace for how fast we move our bodies. We really liked when the fast Celtic songs played; the fiddle made our feet move fast! Our movement in song and dance continued when Dawn came for a visit this week, we will try practicing some of the spooky Halloween songs we learned all next week! National child’s day is coming up in November and this year we are celebrating the right to belong. Our Sandstone families play a huge role in developing our classroom and we want everyone to be represented. We would like to start a visual reminder of who is apart of our room. We will do this by creating a space that we can display family photos in our room. If you haven’t done so already, please bring in a family photo either by hard copy or email to primrose@telus.net. Looking forward to all the photos!
Have a great weekend! Jessica, Brooke, and Paulette
