This past week in Jasper Room, we have been exploring the concepts behind trajectory. With the weather getting warmer by the day, our outdoor adventures have been filled with playing different types of sports to exploring new areas of our neighbourhood. On Wednesday while we were walking, Taylor suggested that we visit her grandmas house, she gave us directions and led our friends safely through the neighbourhood, once we got there the children discovered that there was a green space right in front of the house, soon our friends began exploring the area. They found a mirage of tall trees as well as a central bushy area which had secret tunnels hidden within. The children were tremendously ecstatic to discover these hidden pathways that lurked in between the greenery. Some of our friends used this space to play hide and seek while others imagined themselves in a forest trying to discover the hiding spots of the fairies that protected the animals of the forest. It was wonderful to see their imaginations come to my life, we hope to visit that area in the coming weeks so that the children may continue to enhance their play through different spatial settings. This week we have also fostered a sense of community by writing a letter to our friends in Quartz asking them if they would like to join us in our room or to come to the senior centre with us, this allows the children to take on a leadership role in scaffolding the learning of the younger children thereby fostering new relationships. We lastly ended the week off by learning how to play the glockenspiel in music with Dawn after which we had a freeze dance party. The afternoon ended with celebrating Theo’s birthday with a giant cake! To all our Jasper friends that had birthdays this week, we wish you all a happy birthday 🙂 Hope you all have a great weekend, see you on Monday!
