Duck, Duck, Duck, Duck, Duck……. Goose!! This week has been great for us to expand on our gross motor with all the nice weather, on Wednesday morning Marisa noticed some children in the room playing red light, green light. This sparked an idea where maybe all the children would enjoy playing some cooperative games, “cooperative games help preschoolers learn to work together, follow directions, listen, and develop problem-solving and movement skills.” So Marisa had some of the children make stop and go signs and we headed outside to the field early in the morning, to learn some new games! The children loved the games, they all took turns holding the signs and using their giant voices to yell stop and go, we played lots of rounds of red light, green light. Once we noticed the children were getting bored of that game, we moved on to playing duck, duck goose, what time is it Mr. wolf? And soccer! My Jasper friends were amazing at taking turns and encouraging each other during the games, for example, during duck, duck goose, while the children were running around the circle; all the children would chant one another’s names. Our next goal is to play red rover!
Also this week we are starting to explore the topic Transformation, but what is transformation? We asked the children this question and here were some of their replies…
“Autobots transform into trucks”- Sebastien
“Turning into something”- Bennett
“Change” – Kelty
“If you hurt people every day, you don’t get treats and turn into a witch” – Amelia
“Little, midsize to big” – Henry
“Tiana is a frog and the other frog turns into a prince” – Norah
We are all really excited to see where this idea goes and where the children take us; there is a world of possibilities!! Have a Great Weekend, fingers crossed we do not wake up to snow!!
