I think Elsa has come to Edmonton!! What a cold and snowy week we have had, but we have really taken advantage of all this inside time by engaging in some really fun experiences! I am sure you noticed all our super hero/ teenage mutant ninja turtles/ power ranger masks we all made, lots of the children wore their masks outside to the mountain on the only nice afternoon we have had this week. We were fighting crimes and hiding in our secret hiding spots coming up with detailed plans on how to get the bad guys! Also this week Kaitlin has started reading a novel with a small group of children, they are reading the story Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osbourne, it is the first book from the magic treehouse series. Take some time whenever you are in the room to read the documentation about it in the back of the room, the children have some really interesting opinions and insights about the novel. A direct quote from one of the children about what they think imagination means was “when you’re awake and you dream it is called imagination.” We’ve also been pretty luck and have gotten a few special treats this week; Vi did a very special experience by making marshmallow Martians with the children! The children enjoyed making them but enjoyed eating them more. We also would like the say Thank you to Ada’s mom for bringing in cupcakes on Thursday for Ada’s birthday! The children really enjoyed the frozen themed cupcakes; they were the topic of conversation for the rest of the day. Have an awesome weekend, and fingers crossed this weather warms up!
