Happy Friday Everyone!! This week has been filled with so much exploration and discovery in Jasper room! So far we made our own flying saucers which are hanging from the roof now! We also introduced the word constellation to the children; Alix showed the children pictures of constellations and created an activity where the children hole punched shapes into black paper and pulled yellow string through the holes, creating their own. Pictures of that activity are posted on the door. Keep your eyes open for more and exciting documentation and learning happening. An interesting moment happened during morning meeting this week, we were reading a new book called Santa’s Little Helper and while we were reading it, Emily posed a very intriguing question to the class. “How do reindeers fly?” All the children had many theories and ideas on how to answer this question… here are some of the replies:
“I think they run and skip to fly”
“They use magic”
“They jump really high to the moon”
“They run”
“They fly”
“They jump and they fly up into the sky”
The children are so full of wonder; we are always having deep conversations like these within the room, we learn so much from these children and are growing with them every day.
