It was another busy week in Jasper classroom as the children started to discover “deep sea divers”. The children’s interest on reptiles has taken a turn and moved into the earths waters. The learning about some reptiles such as frogs and crocodiles has lead to the wondering about “whose else lives in the water?” and “What things can we find in the water”. We discussed what kinds of aquatic creatures live in the water. The children came up with great ideas such as: whales, sharks, fish, and dolphins. To further the children’s discoveries we looked at pictures of other deep sea divers such as seahorse, star fish, octopus, eel, and jelly fish. We set up writing cards in the writing center which allows the children to identify the letters and pictures of different types of aquatic mammals. As well the children have started to make their own interactive ocean scene which we will continue adding too next week.
