Its been another great week in Jasper Room of exploring those teeny tiny creatures; BUGS! We let our second batch of butterflies go on Wednesday. It took us a while to get them out of the net, but once they did, they flew away beautifully. The children continued to make bugs through their drawings and even building with clay and lego.
Sensory exploration this week has been explored by the children a lot this week. The sand and water tables both have all natural materials in them (we have brought the outdoors in). The sand table has real soil and grass for the children to explore and discover new things; we added bugs to it as well. The water table is a messy muddy fun. With water and dirt, the children get the full experience of what its like by a swamp. We added real wood, sticks, and other outside land materials. This has been a lot of fun for the children.
What else have the children been up to? This past week, I’ve gotten questions like “Why do we have a belly button?” and “What is a birth mark?”. I have also observed a few children playing doctor and patient as well. Next week, we will be setting up a provocation for the children to see where this interest may go!
