This week we used our imaginations and creativity to further explore transformations. We started the week off by building forts! There were many unique ideas of what a fort should look like, what it should be made of, and how big it should be. Each child played an a important role within the fort making, working together in small groups they problem solved and collaborated their ideas. They used their knowledge and expertise of what it takes to construct the perfect fort!
“Children learn to employ creative approaches to identifying and working out practical problems by developing sustained, shared thinking, choosing from a range of materials, tools, and languages to investigate, experiment, and make their thinking visible, and also by creating imagined worlds in which they can explore possibilities and test alternative solutions.” (Makovichuk, L., Hewes, J., Lirette, P., & Thomas, N. (2014).p.100).
We also began working on our colour canvas project, there are so many unique objects that everyone brought in, we can’t wait to see how they all turn out!
Before the leaves change colour and the weather gets chiller, we have decided to celebrate summer and have an ICE CREAM SUNDAE PAAAARTY! August 25 (Friday) from 3:30-4:30 in Jasper room you can come and make your own ice cream sundae! Please RVSP by August 23 so we know how much ice cream to get. We can’t wait to see you there!
